Praise be to Allah, to whom belongs all that is in the heavens and the earth, and who is the All-Wise, the All-Knowing. Blessings and peace be upon the trustworthy Prophet, his family, and all his companions. The issuance of the Royal Decree No. (27/2022), which established the Academy for Strategic and Defense Studies and outlined its system, reflects His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq’s—may Allah preserve and protect him—dedication to advancing strategic studies and broadening the horizons of strategic thought through a national academic institution. Following the issuance of this decree, the Academy for Strategic and Defense Studies has brought under its umbrella the National Defense College, the Joint Command and Staff College, and the Center for Strategic and Defense Studies. This unification of these national institutions into a singular academic and scientific entity forms an integrated academic and research system. It aims to enhance and develop the capabilities of those enrolled in the Academy, fostering harmony across all administrative units of the state and other public legal entities within a comprehensive national strategy. Moreover, it provides an environment that encourages productivity and innovation in various fields related to national interests. The establishment of this scientific institution will address national needs and elevate strategic education to the pinnacle of achievement through an academic foundation dedicated to fostering strategic academic thought. Its objectives include expanding the horizons of critical analytical thinking, enhancing planning skills, and cultivating the ability to manage crises. It also seeks to conduct research, develop scientific inquiry at strategic, security, and defense levels, and refine military concepts and doctrines. Furthermore, it is designed to prepare generations of military and civilian leaders to align with the comprehensive renaissance Oman has experienced across various domains, renewed in accordance with a well-structured future vision. I pray to Almighty Allah to grant success and complete prosperity to this Academy and its components in fulfilling their noble national mission, contributing to the elevation of Oman and its status under the wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, may Allah preserve and protect him.
